Cherry Blossoms in Japanese Inspired Décor

You will commonly see cherry blossoms being used in Japanese and Chinese inspired interior design styles. The “sakura” also known as the cherry tree holds high esteem in the country. In Japan, the blossoming of the cherry tree is celebrated annually in an event called Hanami.  The cherry blossom represents and symbolizes a wide range of things. To the Japanese, the tree represents drops of blood. The delicacy of the flower represents the fragility of life. To the Chinese, the flower represents the celebration of the woman and femininity. It is the cherry blossom the represents a combination of power, dominance, sexuality and feminine beauty. The flower is a delicate and the woman, and in the Chinese culture, it is ultimately a symbol of love and softness.

There are a number of ways to incorporate the cherry blossom to your design.  It is not recommended to use a real cherry blossom because of their very short life spans. To make up for this, you can purchase realistic looking cherry blossom stems and a home mists to lightly spray on your silk flowers.

Using cherry blossoms bed sheets and linens are fabulous way to add to your Japanese inspired space. Especially for the spring and summer months, utilizing a blossom floral pattern will add a sense of feminity to all of your space.  Try to use a blossom scented linen spray to heighten your senses.
